Spotlight: B33 Chair

Designed by Marcel Breuer

Marcel Breuer was a Hungarian-American designer regarded as one of the most influential architects of the modern age. Breuer studied at Bauhaus in the 1920s, and the school’s ideals of functional and simple design are reflected in his work. In addition to furniture construction, Breuer built over 100 buildings as an architect.

Breuer is best known for his iconic chairs, including the Wassily and Cesca chairs. His furniture is often recognized through its tubular-steel construction, which was inspired by the form of a bicycle. The B33 Chair was designed for Gavina in 1927.
