Better With Age: Vivian Li

Our thirty-ninth episode features Vivian Li – a NYC-based PhD Student, Fashion Creator, and Ceramicist.

Vivian moved from Montreal to Manhattan to attend grad school for biology. She shares her light–filled apartment, which is steps from Riverside Park and subsidized by the school, with her partner and Greyhound named Jelly Bean. In other words, Vivian won’t be leaving until she is required to upon graduating. Vivian’s many diverse hobbies materialize in her home style, with science magazines (one in which she co-authored an article), handmade ceramics and art, and pieces from her travels displayed throughout the space. In her spare time, she can support some of her favorite NYC-based designers, such as Sandy Liang or Tory Burch, and inspire her IG community with her unique style.

Nearly everything in Vivian’s home is vintage or secondhand, apart from the items she’s collected or created. Her decor shopping ethos is based on a feeling versus how she thinks it will look. She believes in filling her home with pieces that bring her joy versus fitting into one neat aesthetic or design trend.

Tour Vivian Li’s home and check out her favorite old things, including her massive National Geographic magazine collection and a vintage Milo Baughman chair found on Kaiyo.
